Brits are more in love with air travel than they have ever been before. With more passengers flying every day and passenger numbers forecast to increase to well over 280 million.
Yet rising fuel prices, a fare price war and the impact of Brexit have sent many airlines to the wall.

So the UK’s biggest airline, easyJet, has to rise to the turbulent times… they’re opening new routes, putting even more new pilots through their paces and launching a new fleet of bigger and better planes. At the heart of their operations are the 4000 pilots who will fly a record 90 million passengers to over 1000 different destinations this year.

“easyJet: Inside the Cockpit” is a returning primetime series which follows the seasoned pilots who have to take on everything from delays to poorly passengers. We follow the high-pressured command course that enables a flight officer to step into the left seat as a Captain. And join the rookie pilots as they take the air for the first time at the controls of a passenger plane.

Becoming a pilot demands dedication and determination from the trainees who come from every walk of life. But does the reality of taking off in this career live up to the dreams of high flying? And how do the experienced pilots cope with the daily stresses of captaining an £80m jet and being responsible for the safety of thousands of lives?

“Inside the Cockpit” lifts the lid on what a pilot’s life is really like six miles above the ground.

Freshly-qualified 20-year-old Ryan Clyde lands for the first time in the dark in Paris with passengers on board - with the added complication that one of them has never flown before, and is extremely nervous. Meanwhile cadet Sophie Trunan learns how to deal with G-forces, and the firm?s training captains jet off to France to showcase their skills to seven fledgling pilots.
