Train Truckers

Series 1: 6x60 | HD | 2019
Production Company
Windfall Films
Primary Broadcaster

Train Truckers follows the adventures of a family run crew of heavy-haulage specialists as they race to transport the heaviest, longest and most precious locomotives around the world by road, rail and sea.

This ambitious six-part series uses advanced CGI to reveal the engineering ingenuity of the crews undertaking these colossal feats. Rare archive footage reveals the secret history behind the featured locomotives and the dedicated people that build and restore them.

No job is too big for the crews to handle - whether it’s a classic steam engine like Britannia heading to a new home at a heritage railway or the brand-new Class 800 Intercity passenger train, fresh off a ship from Japan. Each programme follows as the crews test their engineering ingenuity – devising innovative ways to haul locomotives onto massive multi-wheel trailers then overcome challenges such as narrow roads, treacherous weather, weak bridges and heavy traffic to reach their final destinations.

Episode 6: Colossal Coastal Trains

This episode follows truck crews transport a massive railway repair locomotive by land and sea and a heavy-weight diesel engine across the country. The Train Truckers head to Germany to collect multi-million-pound maintenance machine that is so large it will need to be loaded onto two trucks.

Episode 4: Railway Mega Machine

This episode follows truck crews transport a massive railway crane and classic locomotive across the country. Heavy haulage experts Ian and Jamie need to move a classical but abandoned 63 year old, 70 tonne locomotive, through the English countryside, for her headline show at the world renowned Great Dorset Steam Fair.

Episode 2: Classic Steam Locomotive

This episode follows truck crews transport a classic steam locomotive and brand new prototype commuter train across the country. Train Truckers Terry & Jason have been called in to move legendary Steam Locomotive Britannia. The 68-year-old locomotive has undergone a major-restoration in Crewe and is scheduled to start running at the Severn Valley Railway. But to get the famous engine to the preserved line, it must be moved 70 miles by road through unforgiving rush hour traffic.
