A documentary series about contemporary drug culture in the UK, featuring those who use, sell, research and provide support services for addiction. Through interviews and actuality, this series offers a unique insight into Britain’s relationship with a wide variety of illegal intoxicants. Each episode focuses on a distinct theme, from hedonistic, thrill seeking uppers used on the party drug scene, to the increase of recreationally consumed prescription drugs amongst the nation’s young, to the psychedelic revival that has every day people seeking transcendental highs to improve their mental health, the final episode reveals the thriving, underground cannabis trade, where strength and form have no limit.  

Series 1 - Episode 3

In this final episode we examine how uncontrollable smuggling is feeding Britons addiction and meet the people who are clearing up the mess left behind when cocaine takes over. We start with our borders. The NSA are constantly on the lookout to thwart new and invite ways of getting cocaine into the country. As we see when we meet Maggie at a midlands border force hub no item it too big or too small to be check for contraband.

We start in a residential area of London where two 6th formers are making plans for the weekend. Soon the talk of parties and mock exams takes a different turn and we learn that they are providing the 6th form house party scene with cocaine bought from the dark web. They see this as a more sociable way of making money than getting a part-time job.

Series 1 - Episode 1

Cocaine in Britain is usually seen through the lens of a tabloid celebrity exposé or a major import bust, but rarely do we get to see into the lives of the users who drive the demand or the intricate network or seemingly normal people who provide the complex distribution system. Episode One does exactly that. We start in the kitchen of an executive family home in the Midlands to find Grant, a cocaine wholesaler, as he’s about to turn 9 kilos into 22.5 kilos thanks to some glucose powder.
