From the mighty Amazon in the north to the Gaúcho cowboy culture in the south, it’s a country with passionate people and unforgettable scenery. As interest builds in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, this series showcases the food, football and culture specific to the 12 capital cities playing host to the matches.

It’s impossible to overstate the excitement surrounding Brazil’s second-time hosting of the World Cup, the world’s biggest sporting event. When the national team is playing football, the entire nation is focused on the game and its heart is on the field.

This series explores and celebrates Brazil’s cultural diversity, viewing daily life through the eyes of local chefs, musicians, artists and everyday workers. Host Fernanda de Paula, a Brazilian-born Australian who is passionate about her homeland, rediscovers the food and people she grew up with and uncovers Brazil’s soul.

From the pounding drums of the Afro-Brazilian capital, Salvador, to the floating villages of the Amazon, she meets the people that infuse everyday life in Brazil with passion.

Each episode will leave the audience feeling like it’s been there, assaulted with the smells, flavours and overall intoxication that is inevitable when truly experiencing Brazil.

Episode 3

Fernanda uncovers new traditions in Brazil's futuristic capital, Brasilia, then heads to her beloved Rio de Janeiro to explore the origins of Brazil's passion for football.

Episode 2

Fernanda starts her homeland tour in Curitiba, a city that boasts the best quality of life in Brazil. A feast with loved ones in her hometown of Belo Horizonte also helps her ease back into the lifestyle.
