When Magic Goes Horribly Wrong features a combination of archive, talking heads, graphics and originally shot material telling the amazing stories of when magic performances have gone wrong, with sometimes funny, often dramatic, and even deadly consequences.
With jaw-dropping clips the programme is a rollercoaster ride through the funny, tense and just downright crazy world of magic. Contributions from leading figures from the world of magic, as well as interviews with the people involved – the assistants, local press and horrified audience members who witnessed the gruesome moment things went wrong – mean we dissect not only what went wrong but also why.
In this 60 minute special, Calhoun-based escape artist The Great Moodini dices with danger when his raceway stunt shackled to a moving car goes horribly wrong. Have-a-go magician Antony Britton tries a stunt made famous by Houdini, Buried Alive, which goes far from perfectly. Plus, there's a failed water cell escape from U.S star Lady Houdini, a string trick that almost garrotes Youtuber Brice Harney and there's the heart-stopping moment that spelled death for magic superstar Dean Gunnarson.
